About Project C.A.N. VIII
Project C.A.N., which stands for "Collection in Aid of the Needy", is a Special Project by the NUS Students' Community Service Club (NUS CSC) that seeks donations of canned food and dry rations from the general public to distribute to the less privileged Singaporeans.
This year, we are working in tandem with Kampong Chai Chee Community Centre Youth Executive Committee to carry out this project, and we thank them for their generous support.
Project C.A.N. is made up of the following 4 phases:
The 4 phases of Project C.A.N.

The first phase of our project, this is a full-day event where volunteers will carry out door-to-door collection of canned food and dry rations from the residents in Bedok. The collected items will help to alleviate the financial burden of underprivileged families who face difficulties fulfilling their daily needs.

We will set up booths at various supermarkets in Bedok and Simei. Volunteers will be stationed at these outlets to encourage shoppers to donate their purchased food items. Through C.A.N. Challenge, we hope to collect lots of canned food to benefit the needy, and raise awareness of community service among the general public. Volunteers can sign up for various shifts from 9am till 9pm, with each shift lasting 3 hours.
In this phase, we will sort the canned food we have collected from the previous phases, according to the dietary needs and preferences of the beneficiaries. We will also check all the food items and make sure that all the expired items are removed.
This is a full day event where we will be visiting our beneficiaries and distributing the food packs to them! This distribution phase will be a fun and rewarding experience for volunteers like yourself because you get to meet the beneficiaries personally. You can interact with them to bring some joy and cheer into their lives! Through this, we hope to create more awareness of the needs of the underprivileged among our volunteers.
